please join in with adding information to this site

  • first you need to become a wikidot member and the site
  • then you can edit to your hearts content adding things you know and correcting any errors you find.

Once you are allowed to edit pages in this Site, simply click on edit button at the bottom of the page. This will open an editor.
Control e also opens up the edit box
Just type away in that box.
There are some simple buttons above to help you add more features which you can explore.

To create a link to a new page, use syntax: [[[new page name]]] or [[[new page name | text to display]]].
Follow the link to create a new page and instantly edit it!

Once you have finished - save your work.
As more than one person, in theory, can be adding stuff to the site at any one time, you have a 15 minute slot to work on what you are doing. If you are still editing then the 15 minute countdown doesn't start, but if you go away to make a cuppa or answer the phone the page will lock. The best thing is to Control S before you go away.

If you are adding information about a place in Oban, find the street it was on, then add its name to that page as a separate link and make a page especially for that place.

For example if you had information about the Distillery — find the Stafford street page - add the word Distillery to it using the 3[] syntax to make a link to a page. Save that page and simply click on the new link Distillery. This then lets you create the new page where information about the Distillery can be added.
Even if your information is about a single building — for example Number One whatevername Street - use that as the page name. The wiki can cope with any length of page name. Don't just put Number one — there will be lots of them !!!!!

Creating and editing pages is easy and there are many options that let you to create powerful sites!
